In 2005, the 20th World Hakka Family Friendly conference was held in Chengdu, and Luodai Ancient Town was identified as the branch venue. In order to welcome the world guest conference, Longquanyi District Party committee and district government decided to renovate Luodai Ancient Town. After investigating the current situation of the ancient town, we put forward the proposal of "overall urban design" for the ancient town, including the overall planning scheme of the town, the regulatory detailed planning scheme and the urban design scheme for the transformation of the ancient town. After careful planning and construction, Luodai Ancient Town has now been rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction, the first batch of key small towns in China, a key protected town in Chengdu, a priority town for cultural tourism development in Chengdu, and is known as "Luodai in the world and Hakka forever".


In order to share this successful urban design process of ancient town reconstruction with more colleagues in the industry, we published the book "urban design and ancient town revitalization - brief introduction to the overall design and construction project of Luodai Ancient Town in Chengdu" in December 2006. This book truly describes the whole process of Luodai Ancient Town reconstruction project from planning, design to the end of the project, and selected some from tens of thousands of photos to show the changes of the ancient town in 150 days. This book will provide useful experience for the ongoing ancient town design and rehabilitation project in China.
