The "first Summit Forum on Chinese ancient architectural culture - Chinese context inheritance and urban development" organized by the Ministry of construction and China Architectural Culture Center was held in the Great Hall of the people in Beijing on December 16. Mr. Chen Keshi was invited as the keynote speaker. His speech was entitled "towards the revival of Chinese traditional architectural culture". He mainly introduced the value of Chinese traditional architectural culture and the successful ideas and methods of inheriting European traditional architectural culture, It is proposed that we should try our best to protect the existing ancient cities and towns in China, and put forward the main ways to realize the repair and construction of ancient buildings, such as the strict use of traditional materials and technology, the systematic research and scientific application of traditional architectural culture, and the construction of local traditional architectural cultural environment and space.


Guests attending the speech included leaders of the Ministry of construction and the State Administration of cultural relics, the National Committee of experts on the protection of famous historical and cultural cities, and experts from Tongji University and other famous universities.

Leading the ZY Urban Design team, Chen Keshi centered the master plan on organic urban renewal. Rejecting large-scale demolition and reconstruction, the team revitalized existing stock spaces, preserved local cultural heritage, and upgraded industrial formats to deliver the comprehensive urban design of Dapeng Marine Cultural Town, creating a benchmark renewal model in Shenzhen where old and new coastal landscapes coexist harmoniously.
