China Urban Design Research Center of Peking University won Wenchuan County Award

At the "selection of excellent planning and design for Wenchuan post disaster reconstruction", the "urban design of Shuimo Town, Wenchuan new town" completed by China Urban Design Research Center of Peking University won the first prize.


The "selection of excellent planning and design for Wenchuan post disaster reconstruction" sponsored by Wenchuan county Party committee and county government selected the first, second and third prizes from nearly 100 master plans, urban planning, post disaster reconstruction housing projects and architectural design schemes completed by dozens of universities and design institutions across the country currently working in Wenchuan County, The "urban design of Shuimo town in Wenchuan new town" completed by China urban design and research center of Peking University won the first prize of urban design and the second prize of general planning for "overall planning of Shuimo town in Wenchuan" (in cooperation with Foshan Planning Institute). The "Wenchuan No. 2 middle school" presided over by Professor Chen Keshi won the first prize of architecture, and the "reconstruction design of Shouxi old street in Wenchuan" won the second prize of post disaster reconstruction and housing engineering. CCTV and major media across the country reported the selection results. CCTV news broadcast commented that the scheme of China Urban Design Research Center of Peking University was "extremely Qiang Tibetan style".


 
With the consent of Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University, Professor Chen Keshi hopes to donate the 200000 yuan prize to Wenchuan middle school, and encourage and subsidize students in disaster areas to apply for Peking University.


Under the guidance of teachers Chen Keshi and Yin Jie, Wang Yu, Deng Jinjie and Wang Juanping, graduate students in the direction of urban design of Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University, cooperated with the working group of Guangdong Province to aid the construction of Wenchuan and the planning and Construction Department of Wenchuan county government to complete a number of research results of post disaster reconstruction planning and design.

As urban construction in Shenzhen enters a stock renewal phase, Dapeng New District, endowed with coastal ecological foundations and aligned with the city’s strategic positioning as a national marine central city, has emerged as a core platform for revitalizing and upgrading Shenzhen’s coastal spaces. Leading the ZY Urban Design team, Chen Keshi centered the master plan on organic urban renewal. Rejecting large-scale demolition and reconstruction, the team revitalized existing stock spaces, preserved local cultural heritage, and upgraded industrial formats to deliver the comprehensive urban design of Dapeng Marine Cultural Town, creating a benchmark renewal model in Shenzhen where old and new coastal landscapes coexist harmoniously.
