In 2023, entrusted by the Shannan Municipal Government of Xizang, the design team and I made many detailed investigations and studies on the traditional buildings in Shannan area, and collected and compiled data for the preparation of the design guidelines for the traditional style and features of Shannan buildings. In addition, during the design of 5.8 square kilometers of historic urban area around the Potala Palace and Lulang International Tourism Town, we conducted many in-depth investigations and studies on Shannan and surrounding areas, including areas with similar architecture, such as Lhasa, Shigatse, Ali and Changdu, as well as Tibetan traditional buildings in neighboring countries Bhutan, Nepal and Myanmar. On this basis, we completed the Design Guidelines for Traditional Architectural Features in Xizang - Shannan City.

The guidelines propose 9 typical design schemes for new model houses of traditional residential buildings in Shannan, and propose corresponding improvement design schemes for the exterior facade, plan, and section of the buildings. At the same time, the materials and styles of the building appearance, especially the eaves, doors and windows, and exterior walls, have been standardized; It also provides design samples for the interior and courtyard of buildings, including furniture, lighting, signage, and plant and floral designs. The guidelines also propose topics such as steel wood structure, rammed earth wall structure, underfloor heating, sewage treatment, and sunroom, providing new guidance for the modernization of traditional residential buildings.
