In 2024, commissioned by the government of Bayi District in Nyingchi City, and referring to the design guidelines for traditional residential buildings in Nyingchi District previously completed by Switzerland, Bhutan, and our team, we conducted detailed investigations and research on traditional buildings in Nyingchi District multiple times. We collected basic data for the preparation of the design guidelines for traditional residential buildings in Bayi District and formed a relatively complete research report.
 

Meanwhile, in the past 6 years of designing the Linzhi Lulang International Tourism Town, we have conducted multiple in-depth investigations and studies on Tibetan areas in Linzhi city that are similar to traditional architecture in the surrounding areas, such as Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, as well as compiling data on Tibetan traditional residential buildings in Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, and other places. On this basis, we have completed the "Design Guidelines for Traditional Residential Buildings in Bayi District, Linzhi City".
 

The design guidelines for traditional residential buildings in Bayi District compiled this time are applicable to all areas of the Bayi administrative division in Nyingchi City. Regionality is the foundation of residential architectural art, and residential buildings in Bayi District should have a unified style and complete form.
 

The design guidelines also play a very important role in guiding traditional residential buildings in the Nyingchi area towards modern lifestyles, environmental requirements, and comfort levels. We have referred to many practical and feasible successful experiences of traditional residential design guidelines from Switzerland, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom in the preparation of design guidelines. From the perspective of social and economic development, we also hope that residents living in Nyingchi in the future can enjoy the beautiful lifestyle brought by modernization, while continuing traditional architectural art and forms. This is also the basic starting point for the compilation of the design guidelines for traditional residential buildings in Bayi District.
 

We have worked together with the people in Xizang's Publishing House and other publishing institutions to complete the design guidelines for traditional architectural styles in Shannan, Linzhi and other regions, and published them in the form of a series of books. The large amount of graphic and textual materials included in the design guidelines should be used as legal texts and become important reference materials for the construction and renovation of residential buildings in Nyingchi City and Bayi District. At the same time, it is hoped that this design guide can guide the citizens of Bayi District to love the traditional culture and architectural art of Xizang. We look forward to maintaining the architectural tradition and art of Bayi district under the guidance of design guidelines, and making efforts for a more sustainable and beautiful future for residential buildings and villages.
